April 28 and 29
We are facing another two week hiatus (not for practice teaching!) so keep those sssignments coming on line!
- Your texts and explanation sheets are due on Friday, May 2 by 9 AM.
- Journals - if you are not doing your CBU during the intensive week, then there are two journal assignments for that week. The first is to try a speaking or listening activity and write about it and the second is your chance to give your input on how you think we could improve the practice teaching experience. These are due the Sunday after the intensive week - May 18th.
REMINDER!!! You cannot teach your CBU until I approve the course outline!This is especially important if you are planning on doing your unit over the intensive week.
- Please make sure to bring all relevant time sheets to me when we next meet. Keep track of how many sessions you still need!
April -
- Work on your CBUs and send me course outlines. This is especially important if you are planning on doing your unit over the intensive week.
- Resend me your short texts for emerging readers and include a page which explains what you have done as I went over in class.
- Have a happy and healthy break. I already miss you all.
March 24 and 25
- Work on your CBUs very intensively this week. There is no journal assignment.
- Record someone speaking English who is not a native speaker - 2-3 minutes - and bring the recording to class on Tuesday.
- Post your listening lessons on the forum.
March 18
- Work on your CBUs very intensively this week. There is no journal assignment.
- Send me the student page for your listening activity by Sunday, 9 AM.
- Try to teach listening comprehension this coming week.
- The schedule for our day of meetings is on the downloads and readings page.
March 10 and 11
- Journal - Who am I as a Teacher #2 - needs to be in my mailbox by Monday, March 17.
- Readings on listening comprehension - now posted on the downoalds and readings page
- Please step up your research on your content area. If you can, work on your rationale and content-content outline
- Check out the new CBU page where everyone's content areas are listed. Pleawe bring in anything you have that might be helpful to others.
January 13 and 14
We are in our last week and busy consolidating all of our learning. Please remember the following:
- Remember to send me your results and reflections from the individualized testing. If they are not in my mail by Friday morning you will not be able to receive credit.
- Check that you have 6 journals not including the ones from the intensive week.
- Go through your notes and reread, ask fellow students for gaps in your notes, and organize them for the test.
- Check that your time sheets are up to date.
- The first half of the test will be on Tuesday January 21 in our room on the 6th floor from 8:15-11:15.
- The second half of the test is on Tuesday January 28 from 9 AM - 12 PM. You need to bring your intensive week assignment with you to hand in.
- I am thinking of all of you and hoping that you are seeing just how hard you have worked and how much you have learned. I am so proud of you all.
January 6 and 7
- Remember to send me your results and reflections from the individualized testing.
- Please make sure you have submitted six journals, not including the intensive week assignment. Now is the time to catch up.
- Make sure I have your time sheets up to date as well.
- Download and print out the table of specifications for our exam and bring it to class on Monday.
December 30 and 31
- Remember to work on your simple text assignments and your reading tests. Bring them with you to class and send them to me electronically.
- I have sent you all an email with two files to download and bring to class.
December 23 and 24
- Work on your simple text assignments. Bring them as works in progress to class.
- Download the informal reading exam and test two students. This assignment is due in two weeks and includes a reflection as stated in the downloaded exam.
December 9 and 10
- Work on your intensive week assignments. I wish you all a fruitful and educational week!
- Learn your part of the poem for our next class: Dearest Creature in Creation. It is in the downloads and reading section on this website.
December 2 and 3
- Journal: Make up any journals you are missing. Until the end of the Intensive Week, just keep adding to your heterogeneity lists.
- Work on your intensive week assignments and bring everything you need to Monday's class.
- Download and print out The Clymer Table for class on Tuesday. You will find this useful for your exam to have a copy of this as well.
November 25 and 26
- Journal: Make up any journals you are missing. Until the end of the Intensive Week, just keep adding to your heterogeneity lists.
- Download and read the Intensive Week Assignment and the chart on characteristics of children who need/hate structure students.
- Time sheets due next week for November.

Journal: Pick an incident or part of a lesson you either observe or do and write a full description of it. You may even draw some conclusions about it. Then leave it for the maximum amount of time you can and revisit it. Mark clearly on the journal how much time has elapsed and see if you can find something you didn't see before or learn something about yourself and your students.
Keep adding information to your heterogeneity chart.

Journal - Choose a class you are either observing or teaching. Set up a page with the students' names going down the left side and at least 10 heterogeneity factors across the top. Fill in whatever information you have and send it to me by Sunday, November 17.
